Fidel Edwards Biography
Born on February 6, 1982, Fidel Henderson Edwards is one of the most talented bowlers in recent times from the West Indies.
Early Life
He had one of the most eye-catching starts any player can dream of but later in his career, his was an injury prone career, as a result of which he was never able to bring consistency in his performances.
Debut
His Test debut was against Sri Lanka in 2003 at Kingston where he had an extremely good start with bowling figures of 5/36 and 1/54 in the two innings, which resulted in West Indies winning.
This was followed by his ODI debut against Zimbabwe in 2003 at Harare.
His T20 debut was later in 2006 after 3 years at Coolidge for Anguilla against Barbados.
Rise to Glory
He had one of the best starts that any player can have.
Edwards developed outstanding good pace and his ability to swing the ball away from the right-handers at pace was his biggest strength, which enabled his captains to use him as the team’s strike bowler.
He performed extremely well by taking 7 for 87 in the tour to New Zealand and crossed the 100 wickets mark in this process.
He had a good come back after his injury to play WI but soon he left to play for the Deccan Chargers in the IPL.
Low Points
His graph went a bit down despite he had an awesome start to his career.
He did not perform up to the expectations in two series against England and South Africa, and was hence was dropped from the Test squad and also from the 2007 World Cup squad.
But later he was called back and he shone with a 5 wicket-haul against England.
He could not perform well during the 2009 T20 World Cup because of his serious injury.
After recovery and playing the IPL, he again suffered a stress fracture and did not return to the national side till the middle of 2011.
