M Harishanker Reddy: A Brief Biography
Maramreddy Harishankar Reddy, popularly known as Harishankar Reddy, is an Indian Cricketer born on 2nd June 1998 in Rayachoti, Andhra Pradesh. He is a right-arm medium-pace bowler who can change the game with his wicket-taking abilities.
Career
Domestic Career
After playing U-19 cricket for Andhra, Harishankar Reddy got an opportunity to play for his home state at the senior level. He is yet to play first-class cricket, but Reddy has been an important member of the white-ball squads of Andhra.
He made his T20 debut against Kerala at Visakhapatnam on January 11, 2018. Reddy picked up a four-wicket haul on his T20 debut and impressed everyone with his fantastic bowling. The right-arm medium pacer bowled only two overs and picked up the wickets of Sachin Baby, Rohan Prem, Padmanabhan Prashanth and Abhishek Mohan. Reddy’s four-wicket haul set up his team’s 6-wicket victory.
So far, Hari has played 13 T20 matches, picking up 19 wickets at an economy rate of 8.34. Interestingly, his figures on debut still remain his best in the shortest format of the game.
Hari played his first List-A match in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021. Andhra included him in their playing XI for the first time against Vidarbha at Indore on February 20, 2021. Unlike his T20 debut, Hari could not scalp a single wicket on List-A debut. He returned with figures of 0/62 in his eight overs.
Reddy has eight wickets to his name in five List-A matches. His best figures are 4/30, with his economy rate being 5.03.
IPL Career
After some impressive performances in the domestic arena, Harishankar Reddy earned his maiden IPL contract at the 2021 Auction. The Chennai Super Kings Team secured his services at his base price of INR 20 lakh. Reddy is yet to play his first match in the world’s grandest T20 league.
Background
Hailing from Rayachoti, Harishankar Reddy became quite emotional when he received a contract from the Chennai Super Kings. He disclosed in an interview that he was with his domestic team during the auction. After CSK signed him, he went to a room and screamed loudly. Hari has made a name for himself by taking wickets in white-ball cricket. He grabbed the headlines ahead of IPL 2021 by uprooting the leg stump of his CSK captain MS Dhoni during a practice session. That delivery seemed impressive, and since Hari rattled Dhoni’s stumps in the nets, the CSK skipper may include him in the playing XI soon.
