Pankaj Singh Biography

Pankaj Singh is an international Indian cricketer, who was born in Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh on 6 May 1985. Singh is a right-arm medium-fast bowler He bats right handed.

Background

He is a bowler who has grown in stature by playing in the U-19s and the domestic leagues. He plays for Rajasthan in the Ranji Trophy.

He played an important role in Rajasthan’s road to final of the Plate League in 2006. Pankaj has also represented India A on various occasions. His most important series with India A was against Australia A and the tour of Zimbabwe and Kenya.

Debut

Pankaj made his international debut in an ODI against Sri Lanka on 5 June 2010. He returned with figures of 0/45 in his seven overs as Sri Lanka won the match by six wickets. It was the only ODI that Pankaj played for India.

His debut test match was against England on 27 July 2014 at Southampton. In the first innings, he went for 146 runs in his 37 overs without taking a wicket. In the second innings, he again bowled his 10 overs for 33 runs and failed to take a wicket in the match. England won the match by 266 runs.

He was selected to play in the next test too. He took his first wicket in this match at Manchester. In the only innings, he took 2/113 as India lost the match by an innings and 54 runs.

Club Career

Pankaj Singh has represented the Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League. In the years 2008, 2011 and 2012, he was with the Rajasthan Royals and in 2009 and 2010, he played for the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Singh has played a total of 17 IPL matches. He has 11 wickets to his name at an average of 42.55 and a high economy rate of 9.36.
