Yasir Shah Biography
Yasir Shah is a Pakistani cricketer who represents Pakistan in Test cricket and ODI cricket. He was born on 2 May 1986 in Swabi, Pakistan.
Yasir is a specialist leg break spin bowler. He bats right-handed and bowls right-arm leg break.
Background
Yasir Shah made his first-class debut at the age of 15 in 2002 but had to wait for nine years to represent Pakistan in international cricket. He played for Pakistan Customs from 2001 to 2009 and for Abbottabad Rhinos thereafter. He also played for Pakistan A side.
Debut
Yasir made his debut in an ODI match against Zimbabwe on 14 September 2011, picking up two wickets. He made his T20 International debut against Zimbabwe just after two days of his ODI debut.
His test debut came against Australia in October 2013, where he picked up three and four wickets in the first and the second innings respectively.
In the five Tests that he played in that season, he took 27 wickets and took his maiden five-wicket haul in Tests.
Low Points
Yasir was banned from playing any type of cricket for a doping violation. He was banned for three months starting from 27 December 2015 to 27 March 2016.
Yasir has been a sensational bowler in Tests but he hasn’t performed well in limited overs cricket. He has 18 ODI wickets in 17 matches with an average of 42.56, which is quite expensive.
Club Career
Yasir Shah has been a hot commodity across different T20 leagues around the globe. He has played for Dhaka Dynamites in the Bangladesh Premier League.
He plays for Lahore Qalandars since the inception of Pakistan Super League. In the Caribbean Premier League, he plays for Trinbago Knight Riders.
He was named as a replacement player for his compatriot Shadab Khan for Brisbane Heat in the Big Bash League.
Stats and Records
Yasir has exceptional stats in Test cricket, as he has taken 165 wickets in just 28 matches with 13 five-wicket hauls. He became the fastest Pakistani bowler to claim 50 Test wickets. He is the fifth fastest bowler in the history of Test cricket to take 100 wickets.
In September 2017, Yasir became the joint second-fastest bowler to 150 Test wickets. He was named Pakistan Cricket Board’s Test Player of the Year in the year 2017.
