IPL 2024 Results
The IPL 2024 Result will be available after the conclusion of every Indian Premier League 2024 match. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the schedule of the 17th season from March 22, 2024.
Defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will take on the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on March 22 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk in Chennai.
The IPL 2024 will be played in a similar format like last season. Each team is scheduled to play 14 league games each, 7 home and 7 away. Even though the matches coincide with the Lok Sabha elections, IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal had previously declared the start date for the 17th season and made it obvious that the competition will take place entirely in India.
Just the first 21 matches of the IPL schedule—17 days—have been made public. Once the dates of the Lok Sabha elections are confirmed, the schedule for the remaining games will be determined.
How will the IPL 2024 result of the Matches be declared?
The IPL 2024 result of all matches including league phase and playoffs - will be revealed at the end of the match. The team that scores the most runs will ultimately be declared winners of each game.
In case of a match ending with a tie, there will be a Super Over played to determine the results as used in T20 Internationals.
A team who wins the match will earn two points and the losing side won't fetch any points. If a match doesn't take place due to forbidding weather conditions then both teams share a point each.
The points table of IPL 2024 will be updated once all 10 teams play their first match. You can check the IPL 2024 points table on Sportskeeda.
The top four teams with the most points will qualify for the playoffs. If two or more teams finish with the same points then the team with the better net run rate will proceed into the next round.
The result of the playoffs will be decided by four matches. The top 2 teams on the points table will play Qualifier 1. The winner of Qualifier 1 will progress to the IPL 2024 final, however, the losing side gets another chance to reach the final.
Teams who finish at third and fourth place on the points table will lock horns in the Eliminator game.
The winning team of Eliminator will move to play the losing team of Qualifier 1 in Qualifier 2. The team which loses the Eliminator round is out of the title race.
The team that wins Qualifier 2 will join the finalists in the final of IPL 2024. The result of IPL 2024 is expected to be decided on May 26 with the venue yet to be revealed.
How many matches will be played in IPL 2024?
As of March 08, the BCCI has only released the schedule of first 21 league games, which will be played across 17 days. This is the third season in a row where the 10 teams will play these many matches after the inclusion of two new teams last year - Gujarat Titans (GT) and Lucknow SuperGiants (LSG).
Just like last season, there will be 70 league matches and once the results of the playoffs are declared, four matches in the playoffs will be played to draw the result of IPL 2024.
Each team will play 14 matches in the league stage as the 10 teams are divided into two groups. Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knight Riders and LSG are part of one group. On the other hand, CSK, GT, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Punjab Kings and Sunriser Hyderabad are placed in the other group.
Each team will play against the teams from the same group twice while they are scheduled to face once with the teams from different groups.
