Born on April 09, 2004, in Rohtak, Haryana, Nishant Sindhu is an all-rounder who shot to fame through the victorious Indian squad that won the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2022.


Sindhu is regarded as a perfect like-for-like replacement for veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja since he is a left-arm spin-bowling all-rounder who has played for the Indian U-19 team and currently represents Chennai Super Kings as well.

Nishant Sindhu Career

As an all-rounder, Nishant Sindhu has already proven his prowess in both departments at the junior level and would be raring to go at the senior level.


Nishant Sindhu Domestic Career

Straight after winning the Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2022, Nishant Sindhu made his domestic debut for Haryana against Tripura in the Ranji Trophy 2021-22 season. He struck gold on his first-class (FC) debut as he was adjudged the ‘Player Of The Match’ for an unbeaten 93 and two wickets in the first innings.


Sindhu made his T20 debut for Haryana against Services in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2022-23 season. He could not contribute either with the bat or ball as Haryana won a low-scoring thriller against Services. He made his List-A debut for Haryana against Kerala in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022-23, but the match was abandoned due to rain.


The Haryana all-rounder scored back-to-back centuries in the Ranji Trophy 2022-23 season. He scored two fine consecutive tons against Baroda and Odisha respectively. He was also part of the victorious Haryana squad that won the Vijay Hazare Trophy by defeating Rajasthan in the 2023-24 season.

Nishant Sindhu IPL Career

To strengthen their bench strength, the Chennai Super Kings roped in Nishant Sindhu for INR 60 lakhs in the IPL 2023 auction. Though he is yet to make his IPL debut, Sindhu is destined to fill in the shoes of veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja in the coming years, owing to his similar capabilities.

Nishant Sindhu Under-19 Career

Nishant Sindhu played a major part in Indian U-19 tasting success in the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2022. With the bat, he scored 140 runs in 5 games, including a match-winning half-century against England U-19 in the final. He took 6 wickets at an economy rate of about 3.00. His best figures came against Uganda U-19 when he registered 4/19 and helped India U-19 top the group.

In the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2022, Nishant Sindhu stood as a stand-in skipper for Yash Dhull in the group stage match against Uganda-19 since the latter tested positive for COVID-19. India U-19 thrashed Uganda U-19 as the Men in Blue won by a colossal margin of 326 runs.

Sport runs in his blood as Nishant Sindhu’s father Sunil Kumar was a state-level boxer who had put his dreams to rest owing to circumstances.
