The effervescent youngster of the domestic cricketing setup of India, Pravin Tambe through his sheer indomitable spirit and love for the game has proved that age is just a number. At a tender age of 48, Tambe is growing stronger than ever when most cricketers are into their retirements.

Domestic Career
Pravin Tambe received his maiden call for Mumbai cricket team squad in 2013–14 Ranji Trophy and made his debut in the next round vs Orissa cricket team. He made his List A debut for Mumbai in the 2016–17 Vijay Hazare Trophy on 25 February 2017. Interestingly, his domestic cricket debut came after he played the IPL.
IPL Career
During the early seasons of the IPL, Tambe worked as a liaison officer whenever matches were played at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. However, he became the oldest player to play in the IPL when he made his debut at the age of 41 for Rajasthan Royals in 2013. Later that year, Pravin Tambe grabbed the ‘Golden Wicket award’ in Champions League T20 after he took most wickets in the competition. He took 12 scalps at an average of 6.50 during that competition.
In the 2014 IPL season, Tambe picked up a brilliant hat-trick against Kolkata Knight Riders, the first of that season and 12th, overall.
Pravin Tambe became the oldest player to be picked up by a franchise at the IPL 2020 auction last year. KKR bought the veteran spinner for Rs 20 Lakh. However, he was barred from playing the IPL by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Tambe was pulled up by the Indian cricket board for featuring in a franchise-based cricket league overseas. According to the BCCI rules, only retired players can feature in overseas leagues and that Tambe, according to the board, had breached this policy.
Tambe has played 33 IPL matches and has 28 wickets at 30.46. He has not played in the T20 league since 2016 wherein he represented the Gujarat Lions.
Tambe went ahead and played for Trinbago Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier League, becoming the 1st Indian player to feature in the T20 league. Tambe was part of the TKR side which won all 12 matches en route to their 4th title earlier this month. On popular demand, Pravin Tambe will be part of KKR's support staff at IPL 2020.
Background
Pravin Tambe was born on 8th October, 1971 in Mumbai. He was in love with the game of cricket right from the very young age and wanted to become a fast bowler. But his Orient Shipping captain Ajay Kadam encouraged him to try leg-spin. He was holding a job in the daytime while playing club cricket on the weekends. He toiled hard in Mumbai club cricket structure to get recognition but failed to do so for several years.
