Indianapolis Colts Roster
The Indianapolis Colts are a professional American football team based in Indianapolis, Indiana, competing in the NFL in its AFC South division. Second-year signal-caller Anthony Richardson’s flashes from last season alongside offensive wizard Shane Steichen’s play calling has given Colt's fan base optimism for the first time in half a decade. In a division boasting of C.J. Stroud and Trevor Lawrence, Indy fans hope that No.5 is the long-term answer for them under center.
Richardson’s progression and health (fingers crossed) will be the primary focal point for the Colts this season with Flacco serving as a mentor to #5 in the QB room. The starting backfield duty will be given to ever-reliable Jonathan Taylor. Even though they might not turn your heads, Micheal Pittman Jr., Josh Downs, Alec Pierce and rookie Adonia Mitchell form a solid receiving core unit. However, their tight-end group might be a suspect with Alie-Cox, Granson and Mallory all scheduled to make the roster. The good news for the Colts fanbase is the big men protecting Richardson up front are set in stone with Raimann and Smith tandem on the outside while Kelly, Nelson and Fries form a stout interior.
Adding 1st round rookie Laiatu Latu to a defensive end room which already consists of Paye, Lewis and Odeyingbo, with Buckner and Stewart eating up space in the middle, makes their best unit from last season even scarier (Colts had a franchise record 51 sacks in 2023). However, losing the 2023 team sack leader in Ebukam for the 2024 season due to a torn Achilles will come as a major blow to Indianapolis. While the Colts defensive line gets all the attention and for a good reason, don't sleep on the talented linebacker duo of Speed and Franklin. Kenny Moore leads the young cornerback room alongside Jones and Brents while the safety unit’s depth is suspect behind Blackmon and Cross. Matt Gay, who signed a 4-year contract last year, will be entering his 2nd year with the Colts.
Shane Steichen, entering the 2nd year of his regime will be once again tasked to work his magic like last season, when he almost led the Colts to playoffs with backup QB in Gardner Minshew.
