Atlanta Falcons Roster

Image Source: Getty Images / Atlanta Falcons Roster 2024-25

The Atlanta Falcons are a professional American football team based in Atlanta, Georgia, competing in the NFL in its NFC South division. Atlanta has gone 7-10 last 3 seasons, which is surprising in itself with the QB play they have got from under center. If there was an award for the most improved team heading into the 2024 season, the Falcons would run away with it. Not so much of an overhaul, but going from Desmond Ridder to Kirk Cousins along with new head coach in Raheem Morris surely warrants an extra 3-4 wins, which will comfortably land them at the top of the weak NFC South. Let’s take a look at what makes the Atlanta Falcons roster with Kirk Cousins as their signal caller so lethal.

Atlanta has an embarrassment of riches at the skill position which starts from the elite backfield combo of Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier. The pass-catching group headlined by Drake London, Kyle Pitts and Darnell Mooney took a big setback during joint practice against the Dolphins when Rondale Moore went down with a season-ending leg injury. Ray Ray-McCloud, who has impressed during the summer, is primed to get a bulk of catches as WR3 on the team. The big men tasked with protecting their new franchise QB Kirk Cousins are all returning from last season. PFF ranked them as the 6th best o-line heading into the 2024 season.

The Falcons' defense which ranked in the bottom half when it came to taking down the opposite QBs (via ESPN), traded for Matthew Judon in August to take their sack number (42 in 2023) up from last season. Judon’s presence on the defensive line along with Grady Jarrett, David Onyemata and Arnold Ebiketie will surely help to improve the 20th-ranked rushing defense from 2023 (via FOX Sports). The secondary which consists of A.J. Terrell, Jessie Bates and Mike Hughes which made Atlanta’s pass defense finish top 8 in 2023 (via FOX Sports) only got better with the addition of Justin Simmons. The Team will again rely on the right leg of Younghoe Koo, one of the most consistent kickers in the league.

The newly appointed Raheem Morris will begin his second stint as the HC with Zac Robinson and Jimmy Lake as the team’s OC and DC respectively. Morris’ arrival makes NFC South one of the only two divisions (the other being AFC East) in the league where 3 head coaches come from defensive backgrounds.
