Washington Commanders Roster

The Washington Commanders are a professional American football team based in Washington, D.C., competing in the NFL in its NFC East division. Since Kirk Cousins left the team in 2018, Commanders have been stuck in quarterback purgatory for the past six seasons. However, with the 2nd overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft, Washington fans are hoping that they might have finally found their franchise cornerstone for the next decade in Jayden Daniels. Even though the Commanders have a new regime and are in the rebuilding phase, there is genuine optimism among the fanbase due to some talented young players on the Washington Commanders roster. It also doesn’t hurt that their rookie quarterback spent five years in college, which will help him adjust to the NFL faster than most rookie quarterbacks.

With Daniels being named as the starter, and the newest addition Austin Ekeler splitting reps with Robinson in the backfield, Commanders are pretty set at both of those positions. However, the same is not the case at the wide receiver position with Curtis Samuel leaving in free agency. McLaurin is the undisputed superstar WR1 of this group but there are some questions behind him due to Dotson getting traded to divisional rivals Eagles while Brown still has not established himself as WR2 in the past two seasons. Commanders would be hoping for Brown to take the next step as their third option is rookie Luke. On the flip side, the tight-end unit is set in stone with Ertz and Sinnott as starters. The overhaul at the offensive line will see two new faces in Allegretti and Biadasz alongside Cosmi to form a stout interior.

New head coach Dan Quinn will have his hands full in 2024 guiding this defense which ranked dead last in the league last year (via FOX Sports). However, there has been major reshuffling at every defensive position. The revamped defensive line will see the return of Payne and Allen while newly acquired Armstrong and former first-round pick Ferrell will be tasked to bring down the opposing QBs from the edge. Commanders also signed 9-time pro bowler Bobby Wagner and Frankie Luvu to contain the middle of the field. On the other hand, the shaky defensive back group saw only one major change in the form of new signee safety Jeremy Chinn.

Last year’s Cowboys DC Dan Quinn will be doing his second stint as a head coach for the first time since Atlanta days. His coaching staff consists of former head coach Kliff Kingsbury calling the shots on the offensive side of the ball while Joe Whitt Jr. serves as the defensive coordinator.
