New England Patriots Roster
The New England Patriots is a professional American football team that plays in Foxborough, Massachusetts while competing in the NFL in its AFC East division. After the departure of Tom Brady, the mighty Patriots under Bill Belichick tried to find Brady’s heir apparent in Mac Jones. However, the move was not able to keep New England relevant and the end of the 2023 season saw the departure of both Belichick and Jones. The six-time Super Bowl champions entering the rebuilding phase in 2024 with Jerod Mayo at the helm will be hoping Drake Maye is the long-term answer under center.
Longtime veteran Jacoby Brissett will be given the keys to call the shots under center while rookie Drake Maye sits on the sideline soaking up all the pro experience. Stevenson would be carrying the major workload out of the backfield with Ezekiel Elliott going back to Dallas while Hunter Henry shoulders the responsibility of the tight end group which saw the departure of Gesicki. The Patriots' wide receiver room, which is considered one of the worst in the whole league, has no clear No. 1 guy. Osborn, Douglas, Bourne and Polk are some of the names who will be expected to perform at the highest level. Another pressing issue for the Pats is the big guys protecting the QB. Andrews and Onwenu, who make up 40% of the offensive line, are the only noteworthy starters in here with Trent Brown taking his talents to Cincinnati in the offseason.
With no return timetable provided for the newly signed Barmore (diagnosed with blood clots), the Patriots would rely heavily on Godchaux to stuff up the middle while White, Jennings. and Uche will be tasked to take down the opposing quarterbacks with Judon getting traded to Atlanta in mid-August. Linebackers Bentley and Tavai would be once again guarding the second level of the field. While the top two spots at cornerback are locked by Gonzalez and Jonathan Jones, CB3 might still be up for grabs between Marcus Jones and Austin. Peppers and Dugger complete the secondary by being a longtime staple at the safety position. Slye and Ryland are competing for the kicker spot in New England.
Mayo’s new coaching staff will have offensive play-calling duties handled by Alex Van Pelt while Demarcus Covington will be tasked to overlook the defensive side of the ball.
