Tampa Bay Buccaneers Roster

Last year’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers were an interesting team to root for as they came out of nowhere with a castoff quarterback in Baker Mayfield under center. However, they will not have that surprise element anymore in the 2024 season. But, by signing Baker and Mike Evans to an extension, the front office believes that last year was no fluke and their Super Bowl window might still be open even after the departure of Tom Brady. Let’s check the Tampa Bay Buccaneers roster which is gunning for their 4th straight NFC South title.
The former first-overall pick, Baker Mayfield, will once again be handed the keys to operate the offense from under the center while Kyle Trask will most likely slot in the QB2 role. Breakout player Rachaad White (990 rushing yards in 2023) will be the primary ball carrier for the Bucs with rookie Irving coming in to make sure White doesn’t get exhausted. The wide receiver quartet of Evans, Godwin, Palmer and rookie McMillan are carved in stone. Cade Otton would serve as the primary blanket for Mayfield at the tight end position with Durham rounding out the starting rotation. Tristan and Luke form the starting tackle tandem with Cody Mauch being a staple at the right guard spot. Sua Opeta’s ACL tear in the training camp likely handed Bredeson the left guard position on a silver platter. Ryan Jensen’s retirement in the offseason saw Bucs drafting center Graham Barton in the first round of the 2024 draft. However, the Bucs' official depth chart has Hainsey as the starting center.
The Bucs defense which ranked 23rd overall in 2023 (via FOX Sports) had the fifth-best rushing defense (via FOX Sports) in the league largely due to Vita Vea clogging up the middle. Kancey rounds out the left side with Vea to form a formidable 1-2 punch on the defensive line with Hall, Gaines and Gholston being three-down starters. The linebacker group saw the team part ways with Devin White which allowed Diaby, David and Britt to lock up the three spots. Tampa Bay’s pass defense which ranked a putrid 27th in the league will be looking to get more out of their two starting corners Dean and McCollum with Hall and Thomas likely competing for the 3rd spot. Star safety Winfield Jr. will be once again lining up with his old teammate from two years ago in Whitehead who made its return to Florida after playing a couple of seasons in New York. Izien will be rounding out the safety group. The special team remains untouched with McLaughlin, Camarda and Triner all returning as they were.
Todd Bowles, who has done a phenomenal job of not letting the ship sink since the departure of Tom Brady, will look to make a deep postseason run in his 3rd year as the Bucs head coach. The offensive side of the ball saw a major piece in Dave Canales leave to take the head coaching duties at Carolina, which saw the offensive coordinator spot getting open. Liam Koen, who spent many years with the Rams was given the keys to call plays on the offense.
