Sayan Ghosh Biography

Sayan Sankar Ghosh is a cricketer from India. Born on the 16th of September, 1992, Ghosh hails from Bengal. Ghosh is a right-arm medium bowler who represents the Bengal team in the domestic circuit.

Background

Ghosh wanted to be a sportsperson since childhood. He had represented his school team in various sports.

However, he quickly found cricket as his forte and has worked on his game since then. Ghosh’s mother had taken him to Narendranath Dutta, his first coach.

He trained in the town of Chakdaha, which is known for giving India Jhulan Goswami, the female speedster.

Ghosh played his first game for Bengal on the 7th of November, 2015. He took two wickets in the match and his team went on to beat Vidarbha by 105 runs.

Debut

Sayan Ghosh hasn’t made any international appearances yet.

Rise to Glory

Ghosh has been given the name ‘Chakdaha Malinga’ due to the similarity in his action with Lasith Malinga. However, the pacer idolises the Australian speedster Mitchell Johnson.

The young man kept taking wickets at the club level for Kalighat and BNR. He got into the U19 Bengal team and did well there too. His performances got him into the Vision 2020 camp that took his career forward.

Ghosh’s 3-25 against Odisha on the 3rd of February, 2017 in the Inter-state T20 tournament is rated as one of his top performances.

Club Career

Ghosh was purchased by the Kolkata Knight Riders for the 2017 season but did not get a game. For the 2018 season, Ghosh will feature for the Delhi Daredevils.
