Asghar Afghan: A Brief Biography

Mohammad Asghar Afghan is an Afghan cricketer who was born on 22 February 1987 at Kabul in Afghanistan. He is a right-handed batsman and a right-hand medium fast bowler. He is a middle-order batsman and his primary role in his team is that of a batsman, but he can also come out handy as a bowler when needed. He is also known as Asghar Salimkhail and holds the glory of being the first Test Captain of Afghanistan.

Debut

Asghar Afghan made his Test debut as the first captain of the Afghanistan cricket team against India on 14 June 2018. The match ended in just two days with India winning the match by an innings and 262 runs. Asghar Afghan scored 11 runs in the first innings and 25 runs in the second innings in that match.

Asghar Afghan made his T20 International debut in the 2010 Quadrangular series against Sri Lanka, Ireland and Canada. He played his first match against Ireland and scored just 1 run and Afghanistan lost the match by 5 wickets.

His One Day International debut came on 19 April 2009 against Scotland. He scored only 9 runs in that match but Afghanistan managed to win the match by 89 runs by the contribution of other players.
