Rahul Desraj Chahar, born on 4 August 1999 is an Indian cricket player who plays for the India U19, U23, and India-A teams. Born in Bharatpur, Rajasthan, Rahul is a right-arm leg-break spinner with respectable batting skills.

Career
Rahul Chahar started his first-class career for Rajasthan in the 2016–17 Ranji Trophy and the very next year he made his debut in List-A cricket in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Rahul Chahar made his IPL debut in 2017 for Rising Pune Supergiants, after which he moved to Mumbai Indians the very next year after staying with Mumbai Indians for 4 consecutive years, Rahul Chahar joined Punjab Kings in the mega action of 2022.
Rahul Chahar also made his international debut while with Mumbai Indians. He played his first T20 International against West Indies in Providence in 2019, taking one wicket in his first match. In 2021, Rahul Chahar made his debut in the one-day format. He played his first ODI against Sri Lanka in Colombo. Unfortunately, that one-day match is the only one-day match of Rahul Chahar's career so far.
Rahul Chahar has not been seen at the international level after playing the T20 World Cup match against Namibia on 8 November 2021 and is still looking for a way to make a comeback.
Domestic Career
On November 2016, Chahar made his first-class debut against Odisha aged 16. He registered impressive bowling figures with 1/24 in nine overs, which included three maiden overs. The second innings saw him taking a wicket for 119 runs, having bowled 33 overs.
Rahul made his List-A debut against Madhya Pradesh on 25 February 2017. Even though he only salvaged a wicket at the expense of 48 runs, Chahar has improved his performance over time, with his stats till date reading nine wickets from seven List-A matches at the economy of 4.78. Chahar was then selected in the squad for India U23 in the ACC Emerging Teams Cup 2017 held in Bangladesh.
With impressive performances in his small outing, Rahul was selected to play against the Under-19 team in England. He performed well, taking 10 wickets in 4 youth ODIs at an average of 15.2.
IPL Career
Chahar's biggest moment under the sun was getting picked for Rising Pune Supergiant in IPL 2017. Though he played only 3 games, he learned a lot about cricket at the top level and later applied it in the 2019 season whilst playing for Mumbai Indians. One of his flying saves at the boundary line became a sought-after video from IPL 10.
Chahar was dropped from the U19 World Cup squad but he hit the lottery when Mumbai Indians bought him for a whopping Rs 1.9 crore in the IPL 2018 auction. He played 13 matches in the tournament, took 13 wickets, and became Rohit Sharma's go-to-man to break the partnerships.
Rahul Chahar was associated with Mumbai Indians for 4 years where he touched many heights of success and during this period he also played his first international match. In the mega action of 2022, Mumbai Indians released Rahul Chahar and Punjab Kings signed him in their team by paying a huge amount of INR 5.25 crore. Rahul Chahar has been continuously associated with Punjab Kings since 2022 and has proved his presence in all three seasons held so far.
International Career
Rahul Chahar's international career started on 6 August 2019 when he played his first T20 International match against West Indies at Providence, in the match Rahul took one wicket after conceding 27 runs in three overs. After making his international debut in the T20 format, Rahul Chahar had to wait for almost 2 years to play his first ODI clash.
On 23 July 2021, Rahul Chahar played his first and only ODI against Sri Lanka in Colombo. Despite taking three wickets in his first ODI match, till now Rahul Chahar has been unable to play the second ODI match.

Rahul Chahar played his first and only ODI against Sri Lanka in Colombo on 23 July 2021, where he bowled brilliantly and took the maximum of three wickets for India with an economy of 5.40 in 10 overs. Despite bowling well in his first match, Rahul Chahar is still looking to play his second ODI.
T20I Career
After an impressive season with Mumbai Indians, Rahul Chahar made his T20I appearance against West Indies at Providence on August 6, 2019. He bowled 3 overs, giving away 27 runs whilst picking the maiden wicket of Carlos Braithwaite.
Rahul Chahar was included in the 2020-21 India vs England T20 series, taking two wickets in two matches. After that, in the 2021-22 T20 series against Sri Lanka, he also played two matches and took four wickets. Rahul Chahar's name was included in the 2021 T20 World Cup where he participated in only one game and could not take any wicket. The T20 match played against Namibia in the T20 World Cup on 8 November 2021 is the last match of Rahul Chahar's T20 career.
