Career
When Kartik Tyagi played his first-class debut for Uttar Pradesh against Railways in 2017, that was the beginning of his road into professional cricket. From the outset, he demonstrated promise by taking three wickets in two innings. He made his List A debut in the Vijay Hazare Trophy a year later, in February 2018, capturing two wickets while playing for Uttar Pradesh against Delhi.
Tyagi, who stands 6 feet 3 inches tall, has an advantage over batters because of his height and his 140 kmph bowling velocity. He is a dangerous opponent since he can swing the ball in both directions. He was selected for India's Under-19 World Cup roster due to his success on the home circuit. Tyagi, who crosses the 140kmph mark consistently, impressed former Uttar Pradesh captain Rizwan Shamsad at a selection trial. The former bowled at good lengths and hit the target more often than not and soon found himself playing for his state side in the Under-19 Cooch Behar Trophy.
Kartik Tyagi made his First-class debut against Railways in October 2017 where he picked 3 wickets during the course of the two innings. Although his debut Ranji match ended up in a loss, Tyagi impressed one and all with his impeccable line and length and specifically his pace. He later made his List A debut for Uttar Pradesh in the 2017–18 Vijay Hazare Trophy on 5 February 2018 against Delhi in Bilaspur. He bowled 9 overs in the match and picked up 2 wickets by shelling 50 runs.
Before going into the U19 World Cup Tyagi took nine wickets in only five matches in the Youth ODI series in England this year to further enhance his reputation as a strike bowler. In only three games, Tyagi picked up six wickets against a strong Afghanistan U-19 side.
However, Kartik rose to prominence when he was selected for the Under 19 World Cup 2020. The 19-year-old returned with 11 wickets including a game-changing 4/24 against Australia in the quarterfinal.

The right-arm pacer impressed one and all with his ability to move the ball around with good pace during the World Cup and that led to him being picked by Rajasthan Royals for a whopping sum of INR 1.3 crores.
Kartik Tyagi made his IPL debut on 6 October 2020 against Mumbai Indians. Bowling in his first match, Kartik took one wicket for 36 runs in four overs at an economy of 9.
In his first IPL season, Kartik Tyagi played 10 matches for Rajasthan Royals in which he took a total of 9 wickets including Virat Kohli, which is an ordinary performance, but despite this, Rajasthan retained him in the 2021 IPL.
In the 2021 IPL, Kartik Tyagi participated in only four matches for Rajasthan Royals, where he once again performed averagely and took only 4 wickets at an economy of 8.86. After this, he was released by Rajasthan Royals and in the 2022 mega action, Hyderabad added Kartik Tyagi for Rs 4 crore. The Sunrisers Hyderabad team has been famous for bowling, due to which Kartik Tyagi got very few opportunities. In 2022, he played two matches for Sunrisers Hyderabad in which he got only one wicket, while in the 2023 IPL, he got to play three matches but once again he got only one wicket. Due to the consistently ordinary performance of Kartik Tyagi, Hyderabad also released him, after which Gujarat Titans included Kartik Tyagi in their team in the 2024 IPL for a mere amount of Rs 60 lakh and he got to play only one match, in which Karthik conceded 51 runs in four overs at an economy of 12.75 and could not take any wicket.
