Wandile Makwetu is a South African cricketer born on January 7, 1999. He is primarily a wicketkeeper-batsman batting in the middle-order. Makwetu entered the ranks by representing the South African Under-19s at the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cups. Makwetu represents the Lions in the South African domestic circuit.

Wandile Makwetu Domestic Career

Soon after playing for the South African Under-19s at the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2018, Wandile Makwetu made his domestic debut for Northerns against South Western Districts in the Sunfoil Three-Day Cup in Pretoria on March 1, 2018. He was dismissed for 4 runs by Marcello Piedt in the first innings. On his first-class (FC) debut, Makwetu effected a stumping and a catch from behind the stumps in the third innings.

In the CSA Provincial One-Day Challenge, he made his List-A debut for Northerns against South Western Districts in Centurion on March 4, 2018. He scored 10 runs off 22 balls in the second innings. In the CSA T20 Challenge, Makwetu made his T20 debut for the Knights against the Dolphins in Durban on February 20, 2021.

In the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2016 held in Bangladesh, Wandile Makwetu played in two innings across three matches. He scored an unbeaten 50 against New Zealand Under-19s and finished the tournament with the highest strike rate of 185.18.
