Zaheer Khan Biography

Zaheer Khan is a former Indian cricketer. He was born on October 7, 1978 at Shrirampur, Maharashtra, India. He was a left-arm fast-medium bowler and a right-handed batsman.

Zaheer was one of the finest fast bowlers to have played for India. He is the second-most successful pace bowler for India in Test cricket.

Background

Zaheer Khan started his career by playing for Baroda in the Ranji Trophy in 1999-2000 season. After playing for Baroda, he played for Mumbai from 2006 to 2014.

He also had the experience of playing county cricket for Surrey and Worcestershire in the years 2004 and 2006 respectively. He started his Indian Premier League career playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. He later played for the Mumbai Indians and Delhi Daredevils.

The ability to swing the ball both ways, produce reverse swing with the older ball and bowl yorkers at the death overs made Zaheer a special bowler.

He was the joint-highest wicket taker in the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup. He made a crucial contribution in India’s World Cup triumph taking 21 wickets in just 9 games.
