Rishi Dhawan is an Indian cricketer who was born on February 19, 1990, in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. He is a right-handed middle-order batter and a right-arm medium-fast bowler. He usually plays as an all-rounder in his team.
Dhawan is an experienced domestic candidate who has dished out runs and wickets as a seam-bowling all-rounder. He has represented India in a minuscule number of matches and has represented the Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Rishi Dhawan has toiled hard in the domestic circuit but has yet to find a comeback on the Indian national side.
Rishi Dhawan Domestic Career
Rishi Dhawan started playing cricket along with his brother, Raghav, and soon made his way into the Under-19 team of Himachal Pradesh. He started as an opening batter and in the Cooch Behar Trophy 2006, he scored a triple century which marked him in the eyes of the people.
Three years later, he found himself in the Himachal Pradesh Ranji Team, not as a batter but as a medium pacer.
He took 49 wickets in the 2013-14 Ranji Trophy, becoming the leading wicket-taker of the season, and 40 wickets in the 2014-15 season. He even helped India A to win the series against Australia A in 2014 with his batting performances.
Dhawan became the first player in Vijay Hazare Trophy history to be on the list of top five run-getters and top-five wicket-takers in the same edition in the Vijay Hazare 2021-22.
In addition to that, he became the fifth player to score 300+ runs and take 10+ wickets in the same edition after Amitoze Singh, Krunal Pandya, Baba Aparajith, and Nitish Rana.
Rishi Dhawan IPL Career
Rishi Dhawan is an active player in the Indian Premier League and has been part of the cash-rich league since its inception. He was part of the Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) in the inaugural edition and was sold to Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL 2012 auction. He made his IPL debut against Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) and was part of the victorious squad of MI that won its first IPL title in 2013.
After his domestic returns, he was snapped back by the Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) for INR 3 crores in the IPL 2014 auction.
Dhawan was then sold to Kolkata Knight Riders for INR 55 lakhs in the IPL 2017 auction but did not play a single match. He remained unsold during the 2018 IPL auction.
After a six-year hiatus, he returned to the Punjab Kings in the IPL 2022 mega auction and has been part of the squad ever since. Dhawan does not play every match in the IPL but performs steadily every time he's on the field.
Rishi Dhawan International Career
Rishi Dhawan earned his maiden India call-up after his impressive performance in India A’s tour of Australia in 2014. Despite his credentials as a seam-bowling all-rounder, the 34-year-old has only played a handful of matches for India.
Rishi Dhawan ODI Career
Rishi Dhawan made his ODI debut against Australia in January 2016 in Melbourne. He failed to take any wickets in the first match and repeated a similar inaccuracy in the next game as well.
As a result, he was dropped from the team.

Rishi Dhawan made his T20 International debut against Zimbabwe in Harare in June 2016. He was expensive in his only T20I outing and picked up a solitary wicket of opener Chamu Chibhabha as India lost to the African nation by a narrow margin of two runs.
