Shaik Rasheed: A Brief Biography

19-year-old indian cricketer Shaik Rasheed was the vice-captain of the U-19 Indian team that won the 2022 U-19 World Cup in West Indies. He was also one of the leading scorers in that tournament. Shaik Raseed belongs to Gunter in Andhra Pradesh and also plays for his state in domestic setup. Raseen was bought by Chennai Super Kings in the 2023 IPL auction for INR 20 lakh and was retained by the franchise in the next season without playing a single game.

Shaik Raseed Career

Before getting into First Class or List A setup Shaik Raseed was selected for the U-19 World Cup 2022 for West Indies, he was also appointed as deputy of Yash Dhull for the tournament. His performance in the tournament was helpful for his team to win their fifth title. Soon he debuted in the Ranji trophy for his state and later on appeared in Vijay Hazare and the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He made his debut in all three major domestic tournaments in the same year.

Next year he got signed by Chennai Super Kings in the IPL auction 2023 for INR 20 Lakh but didn’t get to play any game, he was retained by the franchise for another year but Rasheed is yet to play his first IPL game.


Shaik Rasheed Domestic Career

Shaik Rasheed started his domestic career just after winning the U-19 World Cup 2022 in the West Indies. He started his first-class career by making his debut in Ranji Trophy for his state team, he performed pretty well in his first Ranji Trophy game by scoring 23 & 43 runs in respective innings. Rasheed has played 12 first-class games to date where he scored 577 runs at 28.85.

He made his Vijay Hazare Trophy debut on November 17, 2022. Despite doing good in the World Cup he seemed a bit uncomfortable in List A cricket and has scored 62 runs in seven innings.

On the other hand in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 trophy Shaik has been in great touch, he has scored his first domestic ton in this format.

In 2024 he was the leading scorer for Andra Pradesh in Syed Mushtaq Ali where he scored 240 runs in six innings at 48.00.


Shaik Rasheed Under 19 Career

Shaik Rasheed was appointed as vice-captain of the India U-19 team in the U-19 World Cup 2024 where he has been phenomenal with the bat and has played some crucial knocks to make his team register its fifth title. His 94 runs against Australia in the Semifinals along with the 204 runs partnership with skipper Yash Dhull helped India to confirm their seat to the finals.

He scored 201 runs in four innings at 50.25 with the highest score of 94, along with his bat he has helped skipper Yash Dhull as his deputy in the tournament to achieve the final feat.

Shaik Rasheed comes from a middle-class family his father Shail Balishavali is a banker and his mother Jyothi is a homemaker. Rasheed has a brother named Shaik Riaz. According to the Times of India, Shaik Rasheed’s father Shaik Balishavali has to change many jobs for his son’s future security in the game.
